Announcing,
the regular Truth-Driven Thinking Podcast/Internet Radio Show! (March 2006)
(subscribe to podcast
here)
It’s a new way to join me on my journey of discovery, and pursuit of
ever-elusive “truth”. Truly I’m excited about both the medium and the content to
which you will have free access – thanks to the wonderful new world of “internet
radio”, or more accurately, “audiocasting” or “podcasting”
via the internet.
We’ll be asking tough questions about religion;
science; philosophy, emotion-driven groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving,
paranormal beliefs; prostitution; drug laws; obesity and diet related science;
health care and insurance costs; economics, global warming and environmental
questions; circumcision; AIDS; and whatever other issues you or I can
identify as good examples of oversimplified “conventional wisdom” being at odds
with the evidence.
Perhaps best of all, we’ll be asking these questions from a relatively
uninformed viewpoint. Say what?? Well what I mean is this. I am not an academic.
I get things wrong. But I’m hopefully intellectually honest enough to move on as
new information becomes available. I’m a regular guy who has become fascinated
with gaining knowledge, and discovering my own emotion-driven assumptions and
fallibility (admittedly the views I have today could also be totally wrong). In
fact, there is so much knowledge in the world, and we face so much information
everyday, that nobody can question everything and have any time left in the day.
At the same time, we can question the big things, seek the available evidence,
and open our minds to the possibilities that mental sloth, or just plain lack of
time and resources, have led us to harmful assumptions about the world around
us.
Truly I hope you’ll join me for the regular, Truth-Driven Thinking
Podcast,
and that you will do so with an open mind. You can listen starting today!
Instructions and background are on the podcast page at
http://www.truthdriventhinking.com/listen_for_free.htm,
or call or email if you have trouble or questions. And lastly, let me know if
there are topics or guests from whom you’d like to hear.
Those who know me know that I may argue forcefully at times, but I’m always
open to new data, and strongly believe that we learn best through intellectually
honest dialogue. In fact as I always say, “The older I get, the less I really
know for sure.” In fact my guiding principal has become my pledge for truth,
because the black and white views of my youth have all but disappeared, replaced
by a passion to find out how the world really works.
YAH, BUT WHAT IS PODCASTING???
