...in honor of those who exhibit the requisite courage to advance in a meaningful way, the causes of truth and sciences.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2005, Truth-Driven Thinking Awards - recognizing exemplary leadership and professionalism in three categories:

  • Journalism & Commentary - a commendation for news reporting, delivery, or discussion facilitation with an exemplary focus on truth, fairness, balance, civility, and intellectual honesty.
Nominees thus far: Tim Russert (is there anyone else as even-handed?)
  • Courage - recognizing extraordinary efforts to defend science or reason in the face of emotion-driven opposition.
Nominees thus far: Christopher Hitchens - for his history of courage to argue the unpopular; Hirsi Ali, for her courageous stand for free speech after her Dutch Film "Submission" criticized Islam, placing her in great danger and prompting the murder of the film's director, Theo Van Gogh.
  • Awareness - honoring educational efforts targeting science, reason and truth-driven thinking.
