Welcome to a new kind of "critical thinking" for an emotion-driven world.

WARNING

This site has no claim on truth. Truth is elusive and highly complex (though I do provisionally assume that one truth does exist for all earthly questions--inconceivably complex though it may be). Rather, this site is about methods of discourse and inquiry we can use to attain better approximations of truth. It also suggests truth as the ultimate virtue or goal, above all others (including hope, faith, etc.). Though only provisionally, it also suggests that we reach the best estimates of truth through science, reason, evidence, logic and intellectually honest dialogue. Do NOT EVER believe that this site or any other can tell you what is true and what is not. And CAUTION  - there is something here that WILL stimulate an emotional response. When it happens, I beg you to ponder WHY it happens. Why do you have an emotional reaction? Do you hold truth as the highest of virtues?

The broader mission of Stephen Gibson's Truth-Driven ThinkingSM effort is to encourage intellectual honesty in contemporary dialogue by revealing the prevalence of human tendencies toward emotion-driven thinking, the hidden costs of acting upon the flawed assumptions that can result, and by illustrating that science, reason and evidence-based action are the best path to optimizing the “greater good” for all.

The "Epilogue" radio show lives on in 2009

Fascinating guests continue to share their expertise with Steve Gibson on a variety of topics. Often controversial, the show is nonetheless always open to new science, evidence, and intellectually honest arguments. That said, there are also over 65 historical episodes & programs that still allow you to vicariously experience his journey as a recovering emotion-driven thinker--and they are all still FREE! You may also find that my new novel covers many of the same topic, issues, and big questions about life--if differently--by way of an ironically emotional tale (see reviews/endorsements & at www.asecretoftheuniverse.com or at Amazon). We know this web site is neglected and "90s-looking" :-), but there is still a great deal of information, video and audio here that you are welcome to enjoy! Don't worry though, nobody here claims to have any unique claim on truth, nor dogmatic answers. We're just asking the tough questions, and leaving no sacred cow unturned (pardon the mixed metaphor). Perhaps if you spend enough time here, you will be able to take my pledge for truth?

Historical essays, notes, and BLOG entries of TDT news, comment, and unconventional perspectives: Ben Stein has not been Expelled! (2/20/2008); What is the real "elephant in the room" when it comes to discussions of culture wars, global conflicts, 9/11, and the war on terror (8/11/2007)? How much guilt is enough (4/1/2007)? Have you see that "shift happens" video?

Stephen's new novel is doing for science, reason, and intellectually honest inquiry, what Left Behind did for dogmatic literalism. A Secret of the Universe can be purchased HERE!

“The truth is rarely pure and never simple. Modern life would be tedious if it were either, and modern literature a complete impossibility.”
